A project by the company We Are Listen in partnership with Microsoft. I worked as the Senior Creative Technologist leading the concepting, creation, and development of the project from ideation to deployment.
Björk opened up her choral archives to create 'Kórsafn'. The score includes snippets of various bursts of song from her acclaimed career, many performed by the 50-person Hamrahlid Choir, itself an Icelandic national treasure.
A camera on Sister City’s roof captures the NYC skyline and various events like snow, rain, sunrise, birds, planes, and clouds. Microsoft's AI Computer Vision is constantly learning as it encounters new events, and will be able to decipher not just the presence of clouds, but the type of cloud as well.
Each discrete event triggers a different arrangement to play in the lobby, connecting the inside of the hotel to its surroundings, and welcoming guests in a unique way.
